The PRD deputy Raúl Pineda spoke this Tuesday about the participation of the rector of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi), Etelvina de Bonagas, in the Budget Commission of the National Assembly, who came to support the 2023 budget of said house of study, which amounts to $95.6 million, in order to increase the salary of teachers and administrators.
According to Pineda, there are no kind of gifts or preferential attention to the rector, in terms of the alleged equalization of salaries.
“The law says that everyone should earn the same; what was done was to unify the salary not only of Unachi, but of all the universities. They have noticed Unachi because he had elections these days, but it is not a gift,” Pineda commented. .
Pineda, when asked if Etelvina de Bonagas maintains close ties with the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), declared: “No, it’s not even the PRD, it’s more Panameñista than PRD.”
