After meeting with the Emergency Agricultural Committee and analyzing the situation in the Council of Ministers, Minister Mattos reported that “the water deficit is a generalized situation throughout the national territory.”
As a result, the Executive Power is preparing to declare, by decree, the agricultural emergency.
The most affected productive sectors are livestock and agriculture. The production of meat, wool and milk were impacted by the drought in the fields with less water storage capacity. In addition, crops, such as corn, are in a critical phase.
At least it will include five departments
The Secretary of State clarified that the sections that the decree will comprise have not yet been defined, but it would include about five departments.
“Fund transfers and credit lines are foreseen, among other measures to address the situation,” said the Secretary of State. The measures will be promoted through the Emergency Agricultural Fund.
Grazing will also be enabled in public spaces, for which a series of conditions must be met.
