Santo Domingo.- The director of the Essential Medicines Program and Logistical Support Center, Adolfo Pérez, considered that the discussion on access to high-cost medicines should focus in depth on the Social Security Law, the role of administrators of health risks (ARS), as well as the catalog that covers the service plan.
He pointed out that only 48 molecules are covered when the High Cost Medication Program has 103 molecules.
“These molecules or medicines, which represent 80% of State spending or the investment made by the Government in this High-Cost Medicines Program, are not covered in the catalog of health service benefits of the ARS. There are diseases like cancer and autoimmune diseases, ”he pointed out.
