The President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresreferred to his brother’s contracts with the State and said that he earns his money “honestly” and does not owe taxes to the treasury.
During a press conference, he stated that Víctor Torres Vásquez works with his warehouse “since many years” and long before he entered as Minister of State.
“It is not true that he has been disqualified [mi hermano] because there is an arbitration there that provides that things be kept as they are, on the basis of constitutional rulings; So, there is nothing illegal there”he expressed.
Likewise, the Prime Minister clarified that his brother has not visited the President of the Republic, peter castlewhich he described as “absolutely false”and remarked that he does not know the Government Palace either.
“My brother is an entrepreneur. Of course, as a businessman he has income from private activity, but also from his store. And if he earns millions, that’s the Peruvian; he kills us envy, let those who are against it die of envy ”he underlined.

Víctor Antonio Torres Vásquez has been accused of allegedly having been part of the corruption network set up by former Mayor Roberto Torres in the Municipality of Chiclayo.
A report by Contracorriente detailed that Torres Vásquez and his son Iván Torres García, as well as Víctor Hugo Carbajal Alzamora, as part of the Trasatlántica consortium, are accused of the crime of simple bribery for submit false documentation to win a tender in the Municipality of Chiclayowhen Roberto Torres was mayor.
The project was awarded in 2013 and the works consisted of improving the pavement and sidewalks of the central area of the city of Chiclayo. The work was delivered on a date after the established deadline and an amount higher than the allocated budget was charged.
The Public Ministry has requested 9 years in prison for all those involved in the case. The Judiciary has already handed down a first sentence of 2 years and 6 months for the brother of Hannibal Torresbut later the sentence was replaced by days of provision of services to the community, for which the Prosecutor’s Office appealed.
