Santo Domingo.- Police agents, attached to the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM), arrested a gang made up of three alleged antisocials, one of them who was wanted for the homicide of a university student, in an incident that occurred in the Los Girasoles sector, of the National District, on February 28, for reasons under investigation.
This is Edo Herrera (and/or Edo Ortiz) who was wanted through arrest warrant No.0015-March-2022, for being one of the alleged perpetrators of the death of engineering student Zunny Steinert Florentino Pineda, due to bullet wound.
While the other two detainees are Joel Bautista Rodríguez (a) Maconi and Juan Esteban Núñez García, who accompanied the aforementioned.
According to the preliminary report, the police investigators were able to visualize the three armed men at the back of the Cristo Redentor cemetery, specifically in the vacant lots, where, when they realized the police presence, they fled.
At that time, Edo released a fanny pack, which contained a 9mm caliber pistol, without a magazine, a portion of suspected marijuana, 55 of a rocky material, presumably crack, as well as two digital scales to weigh drugs.
Likewise, during the pursuit, Joel (a) Maconi and Juan Esteban hid inside a house from which they had to leave moments after being surrounded by the acting agents, who seized a blank-type pistol (toy), a vest bulletproof and a bag with five large portions of marijuana.

The imprisoned Edo Herrera and/or Edo Ortiz had at least eight complaints filed against them for different cases of robberies and armed robberies perpetrated together with his partner Joel (a) Maconi, on different dates in Los Girasoles, depriving their victims of cash, cell phones, wallets with personal documents, among other belongings.
When questioned about each of the cases, Edo admitted the facts and stated that a large part of the stolen items were sold at a drug sales point, while the money was spent for his personal benefit.
The detainees will be placed at the disposal of justice, via the Public Ministry.
