He assured that the omicron is no worse than the Delta and that in Panama the one that caused the greatest damage was the first variant, the original.
The head of the Health Intelligence unit of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Gladys Guerrero, reiterated that the Gorgas Memorial Institute has managed to identify the omicron variant in nine people, so far.
He expressed that the cases are increasing rapidly and all this that is happening “may be indicating to us that the circulation of this variant in the country has suddenly begun to take on more body.”
He assured that the omicron is no worse than the Delta (previous variant). “At least for us in Panama, the one that could have done us the most damage was the original one, many people died, many people ended up hospitalized, many people have been left with sequelae, in need of post-covid clinics to rehabilitate,” he explained.
