“Chemo yes”, they ask

“Chemo yes, shortage no”, was one of the main slogans that were heard among the attendees who asked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to put an end to the problem of shortage of medicines, which they say has already been four years.

People from several states of the Republic were present at the march, such as Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Nuevo León, Puebla, Tamaulipas and Tlaxcala, who participated walking or in their vehicles.

Although they have recognized that the problem already existed, they pointed out that since 2018 it has intensified, which has cost the lives of around 3,000 children with cancer. Among the missing medications, they cited Ribociclib, Metrotexate, Cyclophosphamide and Trastuzumab.

Adrián LeBarón participated in the march, who thanked the children’s parents “for teaching us to fight relentlessly, to fight relentlessly, for teaching us that battles are born from the heart, thank you for teaching us that, for our children, there are no obstacles or barriers”.

“I swear to you that the day that in the face of injustice, in the face of a violation of rights, all of us Mexicans rise up, march, take to the streets, overwhelm government agencies, that day, the problems will be resolved immediately. How about that there weren’t a hundred parents who take the airport to ask for chemo, that the whole country was paralyzed? That day the shortage ends,” he assured.

The attendees participated dressed in white with the request to be treated at the National Palace as the Federal Executive stated that it would happen. “Yes, they are treated here with great respect, it is their right, the Secretary of Health will be here and he will attend to them,” he said at his morning press conference on Friday when asked about the mobilization.
