Parents of 22 schools of the City of Buenos Aires reject the measure of the Buenos Aires Government to implement the full day in educational institutions.
Families consider that extending the school day is “incompatible” with the routines that parents have established both inside and outside the schools. schoolsso they ask that the measure not yet be implemented in the educational establishments.
“We do not agree with extending the simple shift to the full shift, because the schools do not have the necessary infrastructurelike a cafeteria and enough bathrooms, and classrooms are going to be overcrowded,” some parents said.
For this reason, in rejection of the measure, the parents will hold a day of protest today with a symbolic hug, at the 12 Gran Mariscal del Perú Ramón Castilla school, in district 9, at 12:30 p.m. and in which other establishments will participate. .
The families assure that, in addition to the fact that the establishments do not have the necessary conditions so that the hours can be extended, this decision also excludes students with disabilities, who could not maintain longer hours.
“The measure would expel boys and girls with disabilities, because many cannot sustain more hours and the activities will no longer be inclusive. schools”, indicated the parents.
The families also claim that, despite the fact that the day will be extended, they have not been given more information about its implementation, which has also generated rejection of the measure.
The Government wants to add one more hour of class in all schools in the country
From the Ministry of Education, they seek to implement, this year, one more hour of class in all schools of the country, with which the institutions They will have a minimum of 25 hours of class per week.
In turn, with the extension of the school day, the schools would go from having 720 to 950 hours of class per year, that is, the equivalent of 38 more days of class; this, since the Government seeks to reinforce areas such as Language and Mathematics.
