The president of the republic was giving an exclusive interview in a well-known TV program where he made several accusations and statements about Hugo Velazquez and Horacio Cartes, the opinions in this regard did not take long to surface.
Mario Abdo’s statements in the Politically Incorrect program generated several opinions within the political sphere, especially when mentioning that Horacio Cartes supposedly pays deputies so that they do “what he wants”; the president also spoke about the case of Hugo Velazquez.
Abdo Benitez mentioned that it seemed correct that Hugo Velazquez had resigned, but that he “is not going to judge him.” Referring to Cartes, he said that he has no evidence but that he is sure that the former president pays deputies and that he has “kidnapped” the prosecution.

One of the many who came out against the statements was the liberal deputy Edgar Ortiz, who accused the president of speaking without evidence: “He is used to throwing accusations, falling to that level is very low,” he said.
Another deputy who spoke was Carlos Rejala, who addressed the president saying that “If he is a little responsible, he should at least give the names and surnames of the deputies who receive that bribe, a person who denounced cases of corruption in your government asks you to do so.” He mentioned through his social networks. Walter Harms also treated the president as irresponsible in addition to using other qualifiers as an insult.
Deputy Antonio Buzarquis, for his part, mentioned that the rumors about “paid” deputies have been going around for a long time, but that there is no proof of it: “It is probably true, those are comments that have been running through the corridors for a long time, but not I can tell,” he replied.
Regarding the prosecution, he said that it is true that there is no impartiality; “Nothing that the Public Ministry is investigating we can take objectively, the only trust they have is that of Horacio Cartes, then nobody trusts them. I absolutely agree that there are corrupt people mobilized by money.” he finished.
Deputy Ángel Mariano Paniagua said that he heard Marito’s statements: “I never received anything, no offer, we can’t say yes when we don’t have evidence,” he admitted.
In turn, the deputy Sebastian García said that “If a declaration like this comes from the highest investiture of the country and nobody does anything, we are in a serious problem as a Republic. The logical thing would be for the Public Ministry to sound the alarms, but we know that he belongs to the bench of Honor Colorado; perhaps other institutions could help. In the case of Seprelad, the entity could report if there are cases of money laundering. If this is being done just for a mere political attack, it does seem very irresponsible to me, however, if it is the president who is making these types of accusations, the logical thing would be for the institutions not to sit idly by, ”he sentenced.
