The latest report issued by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) revealed that in Panama more than 80% of people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, placing it as one of the countries with the highest proportion of the population fully immunized, above the global average of 67%.
At the same time, the report indicates that 72 out of 100 people have complete vaccination schedules.
As of August 1, hospital occupancy in the ward is 62%, in the ICU/Semi-ICU it is 55%; fan occupancy is 22%.
Diagnostic tests
The international organization also mentioned that a total of 1,539,687 tests per million inhabitants are carried out, thus maintaining the application to the population above the average for the Region of 1,360,754 and surpassed in quantity by five countries: Canada (1,630,353), Uruguay (1,749,083); Chile (2,187,053) and the United States (3,192,776).
Antivirals at the Figali Care Center
PAHO highlighted the work carried out by the National Government through the Ministry of Health (Minsa), in the Figali Care Center for Covid-19, which has administered antiviral treatments on an outpatient basis that impact around 50 patients daily.
Remdesivir, an intravenous medication, has been used since January, and oral treatment with Paxlovid and Molnupiravir was incorporated in June.
