The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, held a meeting with the Vice President Beatriz Argimón and with the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado. The central reason for the meeting, which had more participants, is the treatment of the preliminary draft of the social security reform, and with it, to know how the National Party has been developing its analysis.
Ministers Luis Alberto Heber and Javier García, legislators Gustavo Penades, Jorge Gandini and Carlos Daniel Camy also participated in the meeting, which took place this Monday at the presidential residence of Suárez and Reyes -in the Prado-.
Delgado, in a press conference before the media, said that “this is a necessary reform, which is absolutely useful.” He reiterated that the Executive Power will wait until the end of August to have the return of the other parties that make up the government coalition, and then see “eventually the position of the Broad Front, if it has a position in this regard.”
He added that after these steps, what follows is “articulate the bill. What there is is a bill, which is much more conceptual than articulated, so that it can take parliamentary status in the month of September”.
