The new director of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), Daniel Meirelles Fernandes Pereira, took office this Friday (12).
Until yesterday (11), Fernandes Pereira held the position of executive secretary of the Ministry of Health. The term of office as director of Anvisa is expected to last until July 24, 2027.
Pereira occupies the vacancy left by former director Cristiane Rose Jourdan Gomes. Anvisa is managed by a collegiate board composed of five members.
By law, the mandates in the regulatory agency last for five years. Anvisa’s directors are chosen upon indication of the President of the Republic and undergo a hearing in the Social Affairs Commission (CAS) of the Senate and approval in the plenary.
