Pointing to the school coexistence manual, the Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Ávila, addressed the acts of violence recorded in various establishments in the country, after the Teachers’ Association did not rule out the idea of a strike and especially after the decision in the National Institute of conducting telematic classes for security reasons.
The Secretary of State told CNNChile that he is glad to see the community committed to the possibility of remedying the situation, making the distinction very clear between “those students who legitimately seek improvements in infrastructure, food or equipment and those who, unfortunately, opt for the path of violence” .

Minister Ávila offered the possibility for the Government’s Education portfolio to act as a “bridge” to be able to meet with the School Council and thus know how to accompany in the resolution of conflicts, which in his opinion “have been deteriorating the offer education that the emblematic establishment has”.
In this sense, the head of the Ministry of Education stated that “a review of the educational project must be carried out, a modification of the internal regulations of school coexistence that allows much more drastic sanctions to be applied with respect to those students who are surprised in the preparation of a Molotov”.
“It is important to understand that we adults are the ones who have to set the limits in relationships, because we have a formative role and we are the ones who establish the guidelines so that situations like these do not continue to be repeated,” said Professor Ávila, proposing what considered a deeper reflection: “How can we rethink these emblematic projects? Emblem of what we want to be for the next 200 years?”
