The judge of the Seventh Unipersonal Criminal Court Specialized in Corruption Crimes of Officials of Piura, Ronald Soto Cortez, ordered the location and capture of Wilmar Elera, congressman of Somos Perú, after being found guilty of the crime of aggravated collusion to the detriment of the State for his performance as supervisor of the work “Improvement and Expansion of the Potable Water and Sewage System of Pacaipampa” in 2012.
“Proceed to the internment of the accused in a penitentiary center in provisional execution of the sentence, in merit of the provisions of article 402 of the Criminal Procedure Code, officiating for their location and capture,” Judge Soto Cortez ruled this Thursday.
In dialogue with La República, the criminal lawyer Liliana Calderón specified that with the provisional execution of the sentence, Elera García will have to face the rest of the process in prison regardless of whether she is acquitted in second or third instance or that the sentence is annulled or reduced. .
The parliamentarian of Somos Perú was not in the Chamber of Congress at the time the sentence was read. This Thursday the election of the third vice president of the Board of Directors takes place, a position Wilmar Elera resigned after making sexist statements about the Freddy Díaz case and it was announced that he would be sentenced to 6 years in prison.

Judge Soto Cortez also ordered a civil compensation of 1.1 million soles, which Wilmar Elera must pay jointly to the other two sentenced in the case, the former inspector Wilder Alexander Mogollón and the then contractor José Luis Cortegana Sánchez.
As expected, the defense of Elera García, the lawyer Francisco Alvarez, announced that he will file the corresponding appeal.
