The Anti-Corruption Police arrested this morning the governor in charge of the Junín region, Clever Mercado Méndez, in the presence of prosecutor Aladino Lazo Pacheco in the framework of the investigation for alleged bribes to councilors to cast votes against the return of the governor on leave, Fernando Orihuela Red.
According to RPP, this fact occurs as a result of the arrest of the regional infrastructure manager, Gerardo Portocarrero Almonacid, when he delivered an alleged bribe of S / 3,800 to counselor José Villazana Flores, who hours before denounced the bribery attempt.
“In the recorded audio, the manager (Gerardo Portocarrero) is heard saying that this delivery (of money) was by order of Governor Clever Mercado.”, Villazana told the press.
It was learned that Mercado’s arrest was in a house in the Millotingo sector, the district of El Tambo (Huancayo). Likewise, at 9:00 am this Tuesday, the Prosecutor’s Office together with police officers arrived at the GORE Junín headquarters to collect documentation.
