The Constitution Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday the project that seeks to lower the quorum to reform the current Constitution to 4/7. With his support, the initiative was sent to the Chamber, where it will be voted on Wednesday.
In the middle of the discussion, deputies from the Socialist Party (PS) withdrew the indication that they also sought to lower the quorum of the Constitutional Organic Laws. That initiative is contained in another project, which is being discussed in the Senate.

Let us remember that the Government put immediate discussion to the project. In this way, the project must be dispatched by the Lower House within six days. The goal is for the reform to be ready before the constitutional referendum, which will take place on September 4.
The Senate approved the project on July 20, with 41 votes in favor, two against and one abstention. After that, it was sent to the Chamber of Deputies.
The initiative was introduced by senators D.C. Ximena Rincon, Matthias Walker and Ivan Flowersin addition to the independent PPD Peter Araya.
