Two people who were required by the authorities after being involved in the robbery of a National Police patrol car on July 11, 2022, during the protests registered near the University of Panama, were arrested this morning by the authorities.

After a raid carried out by the Primary Care Section of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the National Police and the Judicial Investigation Directorate, in Viejo Veranillo, they managed to capture an adult and a teenager, allegedly linked to the crime Against Patrimony Economic, theft and damages to the detriment of the National Police.

The subjects took advantage of the chaos generated during the demonstrations to strip a uniformed officer of a vehicle owned by the National Police and then drove him to the University of Panama, where campus security prevented them from continuing. Both subjects fled the scene.

According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, Adela Cedeño Sanjur, in less than 48 hours these people will be placed under the orders of a guarantee judge to charge charges and apply precautionary measures.
