Patient tested positive for monkeypox in Huancayo and refused to comply with quarantine

The regional director of Health of Junín, Dr. Luis Zuñiga Villacrecis, reported that a patient who tested positive for monkeypox -on July 21 in Huancayo- refused to carry out the respective quarantine and now fears that he could be spreading the disease in the region or other parts of the country.

“Despite the fact that he has symptoms, he was told to isolate himself, not to travel, he is still very reluctant to not comply with health regulations”the official explained to Latina.

According to the morning, the patient was treated at the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital in Huancayo, where he arrived with rashes. After the respective tests he tested positive for monkeypox.

Huancayo: Monkeypox Patient Escapes Quarantine

“He does not express, he does not refer to major things, that is, he evades questions a lot. We know that he has family in Huancavelica, I hope he has not traveled there to follow that rate of contagion. But here in the area, yes, it’s coming and going from Lima. Since he is a young person, he should not feel any discomfort, but he is spreading the disease”, he pointed.

He added that the patient gave false information about his address when he was treated. “He had a high fever, headache, guaranteed pain. She has some comorbidities. The big problem that he can have serious health problems for not helping himself and helping us”.

It was learned that the sector has deployed an epidemiological fence in the region in order to prevent further contagion of monkeypox.

Minsa on patient

For his part, the Minister of Health, Jorge López, claimed to have knowledge of the case. “We currently have the epidemiology brigade in the Junín region, actively searching for this patient.”

Along these lines, he explained that the population that is having the highest number of cases of monkeypox are people with HIV. “Many of them are HIV positive.”
