Before August 20, the full Congress must elect the next person to occupy the direction of the Comptroller General of the Republic. It should be remembered that this choice has been widely criticized.
(Read: Is Petro’s tax reform similar to that of Duque and Carrasquilla?).
Before the interviews, four of the 32 congressmen in charge resigned from the accidental commission. They are senators Lidio García, from the Liberal Party, and Juan Felipe Lemus, from ‘la U’, Miguel Ángel Pinto, from the Liberal Party and Jennifer Pedraza, from Dignidad.
It has been said that the Petro government is not respecting the independence that should govern the election of the comptroller. For now, the election is expected to take place on next August 18.
