Several women have been rescued this Thursday by the authorities of the Public Ministry during the simultaneous raids for prostitution and human trafficking.
According to preliminary and unofficial reports, in total they have been 80 alleged victims rescued, most of them Colombian.
Among the places intervened by the MP in conjunction with agents from the Department of Special Operations (SWAT), is the Hotel Caribe, located a few meters from the Joaquín Balaguer Metro stop, in the Gazcue sector. Also, a beauty salon in front of the building is being raided.
Elizabeth Llauger, owner of the Hotel Caribe, assured that she is dedicated to the rental of furnished apartments and that unaware that it was used for prostitution and human trafficking.
“We rent furnished apartments, there is an economic purge of clients, but I have no idea what it could be,” said Llauger.
Until now, the judicial authorities have not referred to the issue. Details are expected to be released later in the day.
It was learned that at least ten people were arrested, taken to the old building that housed the Supreme Court of Justice, now the Court of Appeal.
The human trafficking, trade in persons, or human smuggling is the illegal movement of human beings for the purposes of labor, mental, reproductive, sexual exploitationforced labor, organ harvesting, or any modern form of slavery against the will and well-being of the human being. Much of human trafficking is done for commercial purposes and underground.
