The National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) reported that Colombia’s controlled oil production during June 2022 was 752,294 barrels per day (bopd), which represented an increase of 8.38% compared to the same month of 2021 when it was of 694,150 bopd.
Oil production has not exceeded 752,000 barrels since December 2020 when it was 760,020 bopd.
Compared to May this year, crude oil production increased by 0.82%, going from 746,185 bopd to 752,294 bopd.
The increase in production occurred mainly in the Akacías (Acacias/Guamal-Meta), Jacana (Villa Nueva- Casanare), La Cira (Barrancabermeja-Santander), Costayaco (Villa Garzón-Putumayo), Rio Cravo Este (Orocué- Casanare), due to the reestablishment of production and the entry of wells.
At the end of the first half of the year, the average production of crude oil in Colombia was 746,860 bopd, 2.3% more than that registered in the same period of 2021 when it was 729,952 bopd.
“These results continue to show that the reactivation of the hydrocarbon sector is a reality. In these four years of Government, we managed to sign 70 new exploration and production contracts with investments of more than US$4,000 million and we also managed to increase the reserves, both oil and gas, up to 7.6 and 8 years, respectively. This sector is fundamental, not only for the macroeconomic and fiscal stability of the country, but also for the development of the regions, thanks to the royalty resources that the companies contribute”, said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Diego Mesa.
As for gas, the production sold during June 2022 was 1,102.57 million cubic feet per day (mcfd), which represented an increase of 3.44% compared to the same month in 2021 when it was 1,065, 85 mcfd.
When making the monthly comparison, in June there is evidence of a slight decrease in gas production of 0.84%, mainly explained by scheduled maintenance at the Floreña Mirador field plant located in the department of Casanare.
During the first half of the year, the country’s commercialized gas production was 1,082 mcfd, 1.02% more than that registered in the same period last year when it was 1,071 mcfd.
So far this year, 353 wells have been drilled, of which 320 are development wells and the other 33 are exploratory.
