Víctor Chanfreau for Servel complaint against him: "It has no legal basis and only reflects that they are occupying the Servel for political purposes"

The Electoral Service (Servel) decided to file a complaint against the former spokesperson for the Coordinating Assembly of Secondary Students (Aces) Chile, Victor Chanfreau.

The Servel decided to file a complaint against Chanfreau by article 149, number 8 of law 18,700l, which sanctions “anyone who prevents any voter from exercising his right to vote by violent means, threats or by depriving him of his national identity card, passport or identity card for foreigners “. This after the former student leader made a call to hide the identity cards during the second presidential round that will take place this Sunday, December 19.

“See you in the streets, in the territories and in the assemblies, and remember to hide the card from your friend or relative ‘facho’ and this December 19 we are going to vote for Boric to leave,” said the former spokesman of the Aces in a video broadcast on their social networks.

“The law adds that the offender will be punished with minor imprisonment in its medium degree to major imprisonment in its minimum degree and a fine of one to three tax units,” detailed the Servel, along with a call to act responsibly to the entire electorate this Sunday Decembre 19th.

“First I want to say that the complaint seems ridiculous, which I am sure will be dismissed, because I have not committed any crime,” replied Chanfreau outside the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH), currently in session.

And he added: “This complaint has no legal basis and only reflects that they are occupying the Servel for political purposes as Sebastián Piñera and the right have always done from the Government, which is to occupy the institutionality for their own interests.”

The legislation indicates that the offender could be punished with deprivation of liberty or with a fine of three UTM, that is, more than $ 162 thousand.
