The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, confirmed this Sunday that on Monday he will formalize his resignation from the ownership of the body and its bench that ends in December 2023, which will be discussed on Tuesday in a special session called by the Front of All to assume as Minister of Economy, Productive Development and Agriculture.
“Tuesday is about my resignation to the Presidency of the HCDN and my resignation as National Deputy. I take this step with conviction and commitment, without doubts or speculations. When Massa resigned as national deputy The president of the Piquetero Party, Juan Marino, will take over in his place.who is currently an official of the Ministry of Social Development led by Andrés Larroque.
The special session to deal with Massa’s resignation will take place at 2:00 p.m. and there the new president of the Chamber of Deputies will be elected at the proposal of the Front of All, since it is the first minority in the legislative body.
The request for a special session was requested by the president of the FDT block of deputies, Germán Martínez, and the deputies Paula Penacca, Leonardo Grosso, Itai Hagman, Marcelo Casaretto, Blanca Osuna, Daniel Brue, José Luis Gioja, Vanesa Siley, and Hugo Yasky.
The legislative plenary will be chaired by the body’s first vice president, Omar De Marchiand after the resignation vote, the Front of All will propose the legislator who will assume the presidency of the Lower House.
Prior to this deliberation, the Frente de Todos bench will meet tomorrow night or Tuesday morning to elect the successor of the appointed Minister of Economy, Productive Development and Agriculture.
From the ruling party they pointed out that the vice president of the FDT block Cecilia Moreau is the firm candidate to occupy that strategic and third place in the presidential succession.
If elected, Moreau will become the first woman to preside over the Chamber of Deputies, since at least since the restoration of democracy all presidents were men, and even the current leadership does not have women in its composition.
