Minister Ceballos assures that they have dismantled 11 gangs dedicated to human trafficking

The Minister for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos Ichasoassured that at least 11 gangs dedicated to human trafficking have been dismantled in the country, as well as the arrest of 20 people for this crime.

At an event for the International Day Against Trafficking in Persons, on July 29, the minister said that 12 of the 20 detainees were requested by the authorities. He also noted that 42 people were rescued and are undergoing treatment.

However, Ceballos Ichaso did not clarify the period of time in which these arrests related to the crime of trafficking have taken place. According to the Mulier Venezuela civil association, 517 women, including 124 girls and adolescents, were rescued from human trafficking networks in 2020. This figure decreased compared to 2019, when 672 rescued women were registered, between adults and minors.
