In the week between July 24 and 30, Highway Patrol inspectors continued with routine checks on the country’s main highways.
As a result of these procedures, 643 vehicles were delayed -including 115 motorcycles- for violations of the Traffic and Road Safety Law, according to the report.
The list is headed by drunk drivers, who totaled 257 this week after having carried out more than 6,800 alcohol tests.
Similarly, another 36 drivers were sanctioned for speeding, 30 for undue overtaking and 6 for lacking a license plate.
The Caminera inspectors this week intervened in 21 traffic accidents with material damage, 22 with a balance of injuries and 9 with fatal derivation.
Making a total count, the figure was 31 people injured and 11 deaths in road accidents, details the weekly report.
