Tocumen International Airport, announced this Friday that only passengers will be allowed to enter Terminal 1, unaccompanied. Likewise, the reception of passengers in the internal part of the air terminal will be suspended.
The airport administration reported that this decision is due to the increase in passengers around the Christmas season and to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections.
The Tocumen airport mobilized a total of 7.9 million travelers between January and November 2021, reflecting the “progressive reactivation of its operations.”
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), “Panama has recovered 85% of its prepandemic connectivity to North America, Europe, as well as its intraregional traffic, surpassing countries that never closed their skies such as the United States and Brazil.” Due to this, it is expected to increase during the last days of the year.
