Santo Domingo. – The National Health Service (SNS) reported this Monday that it will put into operation next Friday, the 29th of the current month, the External Consultation building of the Sanitary City Doctor Luis Eduardo Aybarin the capital, which will include medical imaging and dental services.
With the opening of the building, made up of nine floors, six for offices, one for administrative areas and two for parking, more than a million people living in 18 sectors near the hospital complex will be impacted, as explained by the SNS in a statement.
The disposition of the authorities comes days after El Nacional published a report saying that the important hospital complex, built by the Administration of Danilo Medina (2012-2020), was not working, two years after this government received it.
The SNS said that the External Consultations area will have an average of 74 offices, in principle the consultations will be offered in two batches, the first from eight in the morning to one in the afternoon and the second from one to five in the afternoon.
“A third batch is planned from five in the afternoon to nine at night, as demand increases and in the short term a fourth batch on Saturdays, for the benefit of citizens who have difficulty leaving their jobs on Saturdays. weekdays”, highlights the SNS.

The building will house most medical and surgical specialties, including internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, pulmonology, endocrinology, neurology, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology.
It also has sonography, tomograph, mammography and densitometer equipment already installed.
“In a short period of time, the installation of the equipment for magnetic resonance imaging and physiatry is scheduled, with a complete floor for this last service,” the entity indicated.
He explained that it will have trained medical personnel and modern equipment to offer dental care, especially to the most vulnerable population. You will have all specialties, from prophylaxis to maxillofacial surgery and endodontics.
The head of the SNS, Dr. Mario Lama, valued the opening of the aforementioned services as very positive, recalling that the Ciudad Sanitaria is a state hospital, belonging to the Public Health Network,
“We are committed to complying with the provision of President Luis Abinader, that all people who require care at the health center receive it,” said Lama.
On his side, the director of the Sanitary City, Dr. José Joaquín Puello, stressed that all the medical and administrative personnel who will offer services have already been appointed,
“It is an indisputable support that we have received from the National Health Service and its director, Dr. Mario Lama, so that on Friday we can open what will be the entrance to the Sanitary City,” said Puello.
It is recalled that former President Medina canceled the inauguration of these health facilities on the same day, a few days after finishing his term in August 2020, because small details were still missing.
