Santiago Rodríguez.- The president Louis Abinader started this Sunday the works of the extension of the state Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) for Santiago Rodríguez, with an investment of more than RD$648 million, whose campus will have capacity for a thousand students.
The president stressed that these are the investments with which the social and economic development of a country is achieved, because education is synonymous with progress.
“There is no better quality of public spending than what we are doing today for the Dominican Republic. This is spending quality, this is multiplying Dominican talents,” said Abinader.
The campus has been awaited for 43 years since classes are taught in a pavilion borrowed from the Liceo Librado Eugenio Belliard, so once delivered, students will receive classes in better conditions and will open space for high school graduates who must move to other points for study.

The Minister of Housing and Buildings, Carlos Bonilla, expressed that “a trained young person is a social entity that adds to the development of a nation, which is why the commitment of this administration is to fulfill the promise of building a better future for the Dominican Republic”.
On his side, the new rector of the UASD, Editrudis Beltrán, stated that “it is a milestone in history that in such a short time and from the State, the construction of several centers and subcenters required in different provinces of the country has begun ” .
Likewise, Beltrán reported that new academic offers connected with the needs of the province such as the agricultural industry and its ecotourism potential will be incorporated.
The infrastructure will also become the cultural center of the province, which lacks adequate spaces to give talks or present works.
This first palazo for UASD subcenters is the last one this year and will resume in 2023, as reported.

The president also participated in the start of work for the third stage of the Gran Poder de Dios Clinic, which will add 100 internment spaces to the national health system. He also creates 100 direct and 200 indirect jobs.
The 10-story building, which will be built with a private investment of 12 million dollars, will have an emergency area, modern rooms, surgery rooms and will provide quality services with highly trained personnel.
Dinner with 400 ranchers
On Saturday night, the President held a meeting with 400 local livestock producers with the aim of promoting competitiveness and providing solutions to the problems that affect them, such as the high cost of production.
He indicated that Law 180-01 should be revised to make it more efficient, a plan should also be presented to improve irrigation and help prevent negative impacts in times of drought and a list of equipment required for production, as well as pastures and forage .
He also expressed his support for the construction of 11 centers to change the energy matrix and support for the purchase of their productions through INABIE and other social programs.
In another order, he announced new multiple aqueducts with an approximate investment of 1,650 million pesos through INAPA and which should start at the end of this year or the first quarter of 2023.
These are the Cacique-Monción-Los Quemados and Beladeros multiple aqueduct, with an investment of 270 million pesos and which will be ready to start bidding in August.
There are also those of Villa Los Almácigos – El Pino and Sabaneta, from the Guayubín dam, whose tenders would be ready by the end of September, with approximate investments of 350 million pesos and one billion pesos, respectively.
