Santo Domingo.- An 80-year-old Italian resident of Las Terrenas was found dead in the vicinity of the Atlantic Tourist Boulevard.
Piero Giovanetti, who had come to the country to retire, had been living in Las Terrenas for four months. He was reported missing last Monday, after neighbors realized that he did not sleep in his residence and the doors and windows were open.
In relation to the incident, a neighbor was arrested and the authorities are looking for another, identified as Abraham Castillo.
The security cameras in the area captured the moment when one of the accused speaks to the Italian and he stands up to follow him to another place.
Auria Fvelti, close to the deceased, said that on Friday the body of the octogenarian was found without eyes. The authorities handle the hypothesis that the foreigner was killed to steal the money from a pension that he would collect on the day of the event.
