The Vice President of the Republic, Dina Boluartehinted that the Government would take over in the event that the President Pedro Castillo be removed from office. The also Minister of Development and Social Inclusion accused a sector of Congress of wanting to disable her “expressly.”
“They have elected us to be government authorities for five years and that is respected in a democracy (…), and the only agenda I have is the one that the people have given me. I am the vice president of the Republic and from there I will attend to the poorest”, declared Boluarte in a conference with the Foreign Press Association of Peru (APEP).
According to EFE, the head of Midis suggested that she would continue with the “mandate that the people” gave Castillo Terrones. In this way, she contradicts a statement of hers from December 2021. “If the president is vacated, I will go with the president,” she said.

The vice president justified this statement by alleging that she issued it when the first presidential vacancy motion was being debated in Parliament. “It had no political, technical, or legal basis, or anything, it was simply (it was) vacancy for vacancy,” she indicated.
At another point, Dina Boluarte criticized the political sectors that promote the dismissal of Pedro Castillo, the constitutional accusation against him and the advancement of elections.
“They have never accepted us and they do not continue to accept us (…). They are looking for a thousand and one ways not only to vacate (remove) the president, but now to disable the vice president,” highlighted. Likewise, he admitted that “some ministers have not measured up”, but considered that “there has never been so much political harassment” and “political persecution of the president, the vice president and the ministers.”

Dina Boluarte says that they seek to disable her “expressly”
The vice president also referred to the constitutional accusation against her. She said that a “minority” sector intends to disable it “expressly” with the alleged objective that it be the president of Congress who assumes the Executive after an eventual vacancy against peter castle.
“The group has always been working on the vacancy, and since Congress responds to numbers (and) they have seen that the numbers were not enough (to impeach) the president, so they said ‘let’s go for the person who accompanies the president,'” he pointed.
Boluarte insisted that she acted “within the legal framework” when carrying out procedures as president of the Apurímac club when she was already exercising a public function. Given the advance of the constitutional accusation, the vice president appealed to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to declare the nullity of the parliamentary process.
