The Businessmen for Integrity group demanded that the president peter castle his resignation from office because, as he said, “Corruption is causing great damage to the country, not only by generating high economic losses, but also by dragging citizens into a serious crisis of morale and confidence”.
“It is unacceptable that the highest official of the country and his closest entourage are immersed in a series of acts with indications of corruption. Worse yet, is that the recent actions of President Pedro Castillo express his will to hinder investigations and evade justice, according to recent events in the country.”, he referred in a statement.
In this sense, the group of businessmen rejected the conduct of President Castillo and mentioned that it is added to a series of reprehensible acts carried out since he began his administration.
“We demand that Mr. Pedro Castillo resign from the Presidency of the Republic. If he does not do so, we request the Congress of the Republic, assuming the responsibility that corresponds to it, to proceed with the immediate removal of him in accordance with the Constitution and the law.”, he pointed out.
It should be noted that, last Tuesday, Mariano González was abruptly dismissed from his position as Minister of the Interior hours after he formed a special team within the National Police to capture the fugitives Bruno Pacheco (former secretary of the Government Palace), Juan Silva (former Minister of Transport and Communications) and Fray Vásquez (nephew of Pedro Castillo).
In this regard, González stated that the president’s decision to have removed him from his post “involves an act of obstruction”.
“I think that hindering the intelligence teams is a clear obstruction of justice, so, for me, that is evident and disqualifies him from being able to continue being the president”, he said on RPP.
He added that the special police team that had been working to capture these fugitive characters “was very close to having achievements in the next few days”.
At another time, González declared on Panamericana Television: “I have no doubt today about the commitment that Mr. [Pedro Castillo] with corruption. And I have no doubt that this abrupt departure is intended to obstruct the administration of justice“, he pointed.
