Bahian cities hit by the rains now receive new resources

New resources for four cities in Bahia affected by heavy rains in the state, since the end of November, are being released this Tuesday (14) by the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR). The money will be used to restore the areas most affected by the natural disaster.Bahian cities hit by the rains now receive new resources

According to the ministry, the biggest transfer, of R$ 1.1 million, will be destined to the city of Jiquiriça. The city of Guaratinga will be served with R$ 888 thousand. Eunápolis, which had already received federal funds, will receive another R$ 403 thousand. For Itambé, the MDR allocated R$376,000. Other municipalities are still awaiting analysis of work plans and will benefit soon, informs the ministry.

Resources released

According to the Regional Development folder, with today’s transfers, the federal government has already released R$ 8.5 million to municipalities in southern Bahia affected by the rains. Last Saturday (11), the government had already authorized the release of R$5.8 million. The ordinances were published in the Official Diary of the Union this Monday (13).

So far, the MDR has recognized the emergency situation in 26 cities in Bahia. They are: Anagé, Baixa Grande, Boa Vista do Tumpim, Camacan, Canavieiras, Encruzilhada, Eunápolis, Guaratinga, Ibicuí, Itabela, Itacaré, Itamaraju, Itambé, Itapetinga, Itarantim, Jaguaquara, Jiquiriçá, Jucuruçu, Marcionílio de Souza, Mascot. Medeiros Neto, Mundo Novo, Santanópolis, Teixeira de Freitas, Teolândia and Vereda.

According to the most updated data released by the Civil Defense of the State of Bahia, the rains have already caused the death of 11 people and left 267 wounded. The number of homeless reaches 6,371.
