Behaviors that affect natural resources should be punished from the perspective of organized crime

He said that these crimes are regularly committed by people dedicated to organized crime who are dedicated to trafficking in wood and wildlife species.

The lawyer and specialist in criminal and environmental law, Giovanni Olmos launched his book “Environmental Crimes”, with which he seeks to start the discussion of environmental criminal offenses that affect natural resources, water, forests, air pollution, protection of environmental management instruments, arsonism and biodiversity.

He explained that just as there is corruption and drug trafficking, in the same way there is international trafficking of species, wood, so they fall within the scope and on the threshold of conducts that must be regulated by international conventions, but in the same way, criminal treatment must be given from the perspective of organized crime.

He said that these crimes are regularly committed by people dedicated to organized crime who are dedicated to trafficking in wood and wildlife species.
