The relatives of the victims of the ARA San Juan demonstrated against the ruling of the Federal Chamber of the City of Buenos Aires that dismissed the former president Mauricio Macri in the case in which he was being investigated for alleged espionage after the accident.
Through a statement signed by the plaintiffs Valeria Carreras and Lorena Arias, they expressed their rejection of the disposition of justice regarding the former president. “It is a judicial blow that leads us to relive the sensation before each false daily part, each meeting with national authorities and each false promise during the search”, they pointed out about the decision to end the process against Mauricio Macri.
The disappearance of the ARA San Juan was in 2017 and months later the wiretapping of the relatives of those who died in the accident was known, which led to the prosecution of Mauricio Macri. “Despite having experienced it firsthand and the evidence provided by the AFI, despite the fact that the illegal espionage of which we were victims is sometimes a secret, the Justice of Comodoro Py shattered all that”explained the complaint.
With the same courage and valor with which they sailed in their beloved submarine, we will continue this fight for truth, justice and the dignity that we deserve.
The lawyer and father of one of the crew members of the submarine, Luis Tagliapietra, described as grotesque the decision of the Justice regarding the Ex leader. He announced that he will appeal the decision of Chamber 1 of the Federal Court of Appeals of the City of Buenos Aires.

For Tagliapietra, the resolution was supported only by the statements of the defense of Mauricio Macri and unaware of the evidence. “This is a bug with grotesque characteristics,” he reiterated.
The lawyer, who represents 11 relatives of the sailors, explained that they will appeal to the Cassation Chamber and the Supreme Court of Justice. He assured that during the file sufficient evidence was collected regarding the illegal espionage that was carried out on the relatives and considered that the resolution should continue with the investigation and not dismiss a case.
