Although they will not stop work, the members of the National Association of Nurses of Panama (ANEP) will join the demonstrations taking place in the country against the high cost of fuel, the basic basket of food and medicines.
According to the union, they met in an extraordinary assembly yesterday, July 12, and decided that they will carry out picket lines, during their lunch hours, in all health facilities nationwide.
They stressed that the current economic crisis, which is plaguing the country due to the rise in the cost of the basic food basket, is undoubtedly reaching its members, so they will begin their protest actions immediately, joining the protest actions that are being carried out in the country.
They asked the authorities and the groups that are still on strike to reach a dialogue approach in which these important issues are addressed.
“We have made the decision as Panamanians, equally affected by the high cost of living, to begin to demonstrate with actions of being present and participating in the solidarity march, in the face of the serious social and economic crisis that negatively impacts the well-being of Panamanian society.”, explained the union.
