99,430 appointments have been lost in these 3 weeks of closures

The Electronic Health Information System (SEIS) of the Ministry of Health reports that to date 99,430 outpatient appointments have been missed, which represents 37% of the appointments requested.

The SEIS highlights that these appointments scheduled for the external consultation correspond to the period from July 4 to date.

In this period, a total of 268,082 appointments had been scheduled for external consultation, of which 168,652 thousand appointments were attended, which represents 63%.

Among the specialty appointments that have been missed are: cardiology with 913 appointments (76.98%), cardiovascular surgery with 29 appointments (63.04%), allergology with 114 appointments (48.51%) and anesthesiology with 66 (31.73%).

Appointments not attended by region: Panama Metro with 26,666; followed by Chiriquí with 13,015; Herrera with 10,988; Veraguas with 9,189; Cocle with 9,007; San Miguelito with 8,166 and Panamá Oeste with 6,515.

Colón follows with 4,154; Los Santos with 4,110; North Panama 3,366; East Panama 2,327; Darien 967; Bocas del Toro 732 and Comarca Ngäbe Buglé 228.

Each Health Region is implementing strategies to reschedule appointments that have not been attended, as a result of street closures in recent days, so that patients can be seen.
