9 people arrested in ‘Operation Magneto’

The Drug Prosecutor’s Office seized this Friday 411 packages of alleged drugs in two containers located in a store in Tataré, district of Pacora.

Through the “Magneto” operation, this alleged illegal substance was seized, which was kept inside two containers and would be shipped in a local port bound for Europe.

In this operation, 9 people were apprehended, including two of Colombian nationality.

The drug packages, with a label of a grenade drawing, were among metallic materials that were in the containers.

The action was carried out by the Public Ministry and the National Police.

Meanwhile, in Colón, units of the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) seized 22 sacks containing 751 packages of alleged illicit substance, hidden as containerized cargo in a port terminal in that province.

The container where the alleged crime was hidden was from Puerto Cortés, Honduras, in transit through Panama, later transshipped Antwerp, Belgium and with final destination Port Helsinki, Finland, Europe.

This seizure was coordinated with the Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Colón and Guna Yala and the Panama Naval Air Operations Center (CROAN), through tasks of controlling illicit maritime and port traffic, within the framework of “Operation Alfil and Operation Caribe 2 , Phase 4”.
