The president of the Union of Multimodal Transport Unions of Peru (Ugtranm), Giovanni Diez, ratified the strike of carriers scheduled for this Monday, July 4 at the national level. He reiterated that as long as the Government does not present them with decrees and resolutions of their demands, they will not suspend the force measure.
“We have had no contact with the ministry since May 30 because we decided not to attend any more tables for the simple reason that our problems, the support and the proposals we made, have been around for a long time. So, what we ask the minister is that he had until July 4 to show us decrees and resolutions. Until today, July 3, we have not had a response”he pointed out in dialogue with Canal N.
He indicated that heavy cargo carriers will also join the measure of force. “They (the ministers) have been meeting with our cargo friends who had announced their strike on June 27 and who are still at a standstill to date. (…) They have walked them, they do not give them clear answers and once again they want to sign only minutes. All the ministers sign, but they do not give the indicated value to that document”, he asserted.
Asked about the statements of the Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Barranzuela, who indicated that of the 10 requirements raised by the unions, the seven that correspond to their sector have already been resolved, Giovanni Diez pointed out that all these proposals are in an act .
“What they send us and we have read, they have practically gone back in the specifications that we had. Although it is true that they have proposals that they have made but they are all in a minute, that is, it is a commitment that we no longer believe in. For us to believe it, we want to see it embodied, it does not matter, with deadlines and work, in decrees and resolutions. If they are not going to give an act, it will be one more role that the same authority until now is not used to fulfilling “he explained.
ratify strike
At another time, Diez asserted that the stoppage scheduled for tomorrow is going and indicated how many units will paralyze their operations. “Definitely, it is totally ratified for tomorrow. We have made a gentleman’s agreement with the cargo part that had started on June 27 and we all joined together. Our commitment is that as long as we do not unanimously make a decision, the strike continues.”
“Urban transport is also added. Yesterday 60 companies from Lima and Callao have released their statement. We already have 88% of the 3 million carriers nationwide who have joined this strike. As long as there are no decrees and resolutions, it does not work, that is what we are waiting for”, pointed out.
