More and more women are positioning themselves in the entrepreneurial sector, especially in fields of technology; however, its presence is still low and one of the reasons is the lack of digital skills and access to training on the subjecteither due to ignorance of the existing offer, not knowing where to learn or due to a budget.
Faced with this situation, the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, in collaboration with CISCO, issued the Digital Skills program for Mexicans of the 21st Century, the second phase where women over 16 years of age will be able to access courses on technological skills that allows them to strengthen their skills both for their jobs and to develop innovative ventures or boost your current business.
For the Secretary and Cisco, the objective of this second round is to continue breaking stereotypes in a sector where men still predominate, since some cultural biases lead women not to choose technological careers, but to prefer administrative, social or health.
Proof of this is that only 28% of Mexican women study engineering careers, according to Unesco data. Only in 2021, of the 9 million women graduated from university level, only 13.5% did so in STEM majors (science, technology, engineering and mathematics for its acronym in English).
In order to increase this number, the institutions make available eight courses that address from knowledge of the internet to learning to program with python.
Courses will be available until March 6, 2023 and it is required to invest at least one hour a day from Monday to Friday, and the options offered are:
Connected woman, connect
This course addresses everything from computer knowledge, the use of the Internet to how to find customers and have better sales opportunities.
Duration time is 30 hours.
Simulator woman, introduction to Packet Tracer
If learning about new technologies is your thing, either for your business or entering the digital sector, you can learn to use the simulator for information networks, all through a virtual laboratory.
This training lasts 10 hours.
Woman on the internet, introduction to the internet of things
With this training you will be able to learn how to use the internet of things to increase your income, increase your client portfolio and identify the best tools that allow you to achieve it.
The duration is 20 hours.
Confident woman, introduction to cybersecurity
The threats of cyberattacks have grown in recent years, especially during the pandemic, so it is important that no matter what sector you work in, you access cybersecurity training to protect your networks and company data.
Here you will learn about the main threats, how to defend yourself, the best tactics, among other topics and it will only take you 15 hours of dedication.

To undertake with technology, you can train on Linux. In this course, you will learn the command line and how to execute sequences with which you will give a different touch to your business or work in this sector in a company.
The total dedication required by the course is eight hours.
Cybersecure Woman, Cybersecurity Essentials
With this course, in addition to learning about threats like the one above, you will be able to develop compliance policies, security procedures, and how to control network security.
The course requires 30 hours of dedication.
Female Developer, JavaScript Essentials 1
With this option you can develop an application for your business with JavaScript. You will also learn to identify the programmer’s task and the role of development tools and build your own programming portfolio.
To accredit it, you must dedicate 40 hours.
