The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) confirmed, today (12), that telephony operators will be able to activate their 5G mobile internet networks in Curitiba (PR), Goiânia (GO) and Salvador (BA) starting next Tuesday. (16).
The date was confirmed by the members of the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems (Gaispi) in the 3,625 to 3,700 MHz band, at a meeting this morning.
Gaispi is made up of representatives from Anatel, the Ministry of Communications and companies, including broadcasting companies affected by the project. The 3.5 GHz band is the one that guarantees the best potential of the fifth generation.
The three capitals add up to Brasilia (DF), where 5G was activated on July 6 this year; Belo Horizonte (MG), Porto Alegre (RS) and João Pessoa (PB), where the authorization for the activation of stations with fifth generation technology of the mobile service came into force on the 29th of July; Besides Sao Paulowhere the signal started to be activated on the last day 4.
Extension
Gaispi also decided to recommend to Anatel’s Board of Directors to extend the deadline for another 60 days for the signal to start being released in 15 other capitals. The proposal, which will still be considered by the regulatory agency’s advisors, takes into account information provided by the Entity Administrator of the Strip (EAF – Siga Antenado), according to which, Florianópolis (SC); Palmas (TO); Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Vitória (ES) should be able to receive 5G by August 29.
Initially, the technology should be available in all capitals by the end of September, but, according to Anatel, it may be necessary to extend the deadline to allow the completion of actions to vacate the 3.5 GHz band and resolve possible interference in reception. of Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) stations.
In practice, if Anatel’s Board of Directors approves Gaispi’s suggestion, until October 28, the 3.5 GHz band must be available, free from interference, in Aracaju, Belém, Boa Vista, Campo Grande, Cuiabá, Fortaleza, Macapá, Maceió, Manaus, Natal, Porto Velho, Recife, Rio Branco, São Luís and Teresina. With that, companies would have until November 27 to activate the service.
kits
Those who use a satellite dish to capture the signal from open TV stations will need to adapt their equipment to avoid possible interference. The Entity Administrator of the Strip created a program to distribute, free of charge, to needy families in Brazilian capitals and who are registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs [https://cadunico.dataprev.gov.br/#/] from the federal government, kits containing new digital antennas, converters and cables. The order for the kit and installation of the devices can be made through the Kit Distribution Program website. [https://sigaantenado.com.br/distribuicao-kits/#criterios]. Understand
Since the 5G signal arrived in the country last month, consumers began to look for prices for plans and devices compatible with the new network technology, moving the market for cell phone operators.
Also called pure 5G, 5G Standalone or 5GSA, the technology promises to allow users to browse at an average speed of 1 Gigabit (Gbps), ten times the 4G signal.
However, the consumer should be aware of promotions and be informed about the type of data network offered at the time of purchase. And pay attention to the fact that there are devices in operation that are not compatible with the pure 5G signal, but with 5G in Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) or non-standalone (NSA) mode, also called “impure” 5G for operating on the same frequency as 4G.
Operators Vivo, Claro and TIM were the first companies to offer pure 5G signal with wide coverage in cities already authorized.
When consulted by Agência Brasil, the operators informed the conditions that are available to customers.
Vivo informed that the 5G signal will be available to all customers, without charging extra fees. To access the technology, you must have a compatible device and be in the coverage area.
TIM replied that it is enough for its interested customers to have a compatible device. According to the company, about 70% of its portfolio are devices with the new technology.
Claro informed that it already has around 50 compatible devices available to its customers – the only thing interested parties will need.
