As a result of the visit made by the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, to the country’s congresses to discuss the reform with which the use of the Armed Forces in security tasks is extended from five to nine years, friction has arisen with governors for violence.
The secretary charged that states like Guanajuato and Jalisco have become “ in the paradise of criminal incidence ”, which caused annoyance and a response from opposition governors, who pointed out that several of the most violent states are governed by a politician of Moreno extraction.
The numbers of violence do not favor Morena. Three out of 10 intentional homicides that occur in Mexico are recorded in entities governed by a Morenista politician. In Baja California, Michoacán, Sonora, Guerrero, and Zacatecas, 7,247 (31%) of the 23,351 intentional homicides that have been registered between January and September 2022 were reported. In the states governed by the PAN (Guanajuato and Chihuahua), 3,450 (14 %), in the efforts of Movimiento Ciudadano (Nuevo León and Jalisco) 2,291 (9.8%) and in the PRI (State of Mexico 1,696 (7%).
When intentional homicides are measured as a rate per 100,000 inhabitants, Morena also leads the most violent states. Eight of the 10 entities that are located above the national average, of 92 events per 100,000 inhabitants, They are headed by a politician emanating from that political force: Colima, Baja California, Zacatecas, Morelos, Sonora, Michoacán, Guerrero and Quintana Roo.
Part of the domain that Morena has in the most violent states responds to the fact that it is the first political force at the state level. Along with its electoral allies, that party is the government in 22 of 32 entities (68.7%) in the country, where some 71 million Mexicans live (56% of the population).
