The 1st Trial Court of Barinas decreed 21 years, five months and 21 days in prison for the soccer player José Rafael Viera (23), after sexually abusing his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend Dayana Rodríguez, in an event that occurred in the Ramón parish Ignacio Mendez, from Barinas state.
The information was disclosed by the Public Ministry in a statement where it specified that on February 9, 2020 at night, Rodríguez was arriving at his house located in the Llano Alto urbanization of the aforementioned parish, when from a parked car some men asked her for help finding an address.
At the moment when the young woman approaches the vehicle to help them, her ex-boyfriend came out of the back door, who took her by force, put her in the vehicle and took her to her house in the Oswaldo Caraballo urban development.
Once there, the girl, struggling with Viera, managed to get away and began to run asking for help, but the man caught up with her, grabbed her by the hair, hit her, neutralizing her on the floor, then took her away and tied her inside her living place.
While he kept her tied up, he forced her to have sex with him by threatening to kill her. In the morning hours, Rodríguez took advantage of the fact that his attacker was asleep and escaped, asking for help from a neighbor who stopped a police patrol that was passing by.
Moment that the officials took advantage of to apprehend the man in flagrante delicto and make him available to the Public Ministry.
Thus, the 17th Barinas State Prosecutor’s Office ratified the accusation against the perpetrator, for committing the crimes of aggravated sexual violence, psychological violence, aggravated threats, aggravated physical violence and illegitimate deprivation of liberty.
The defendant will serve his sentence in the Barinas State Judicial Confinement Center.
