Until the maximum security prison of Chonchocoro, in La Paz, the president of the Departmental Legislative Assembly (ALD), Zvonko Matkovic Ribera, arrived this Saturday, but they did not allow him to visit the governor of Santa CruzLuis Fernando Camacho for which he denounced that the Government keeps the governor incommunicado, for political purposes.
The authority explained that at around 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, he was present at the prison with the intention of visiting the first authority of the department; however, despite having met all the requirements for this objective, was denied entry to the prison.
“I couldn’t see him, they are restricting his visits. The 15-day quarantine due to Covid-19 has already expired, I should not have this restriction, I have come on a visiting day and during visiting hours. It is not possible that not even on a visiting day any citizen comes to visit him and cannot visit him, this is already an act of keeping him incommunicado for political purposes”, Matkovic lashed out.
He affirmed that the Government violates the rights of the governor by having him detained preventively and illegally in a maximum security prison, where only They find people sentenced with sentences of 20 to 30 years in prison, being the tacit law in this sense not to allow this figure.
Regarding the intentions of the Government to demand that the lieutenant governor of Santa Cruz temporarily assume the position, ratified that everything is part of the set of violations of the Government towards the departmental autonomiestrying to manipulate the statutes that have been voted by all the people of Santa Cruz.
Governor Luis Fernando Camacho has been in preventive detention since December 30, 2022. He is accused of terrorism in the Coup I case. And it is expected that in the next few hours a hearing date and time will be set for the appeal of these precautionary measures.
