This Monday the wife and son of the missing Mexican goldsmith and businessman José Luis Penagos went to the Public Ministry to file a criminal complaint for the alleged theft of 65 kilos of gold valued at 4 million dollars.
The complaint filed against the deputy Zulay Rodríguez is due to an alleged robbery and this one that she did to the late Penagos. “We have evidence because she herself (Zulay Rodríguez) told him I’m going after you with everything… You have to return the gold that you stole from my husband,” said Penagos’ widow, Diana Cardona, blaming the deputy for the theft of gold and also for the death of the businessman.
David Penagos, son of the goldsmith, assured that in addition to Zulay Rodríguez, Rafael Araúz, Luz Eneida Canto de Araúz and Álvaro Ernesto Testa, the latter husband of the deputy, who according to Penagos Jr. conspired with Zulay to seize the gold, are accused.

After learning about this complaint, deputy Zulay Rodríguez reported, at a press conference, that she will file a complaint and sue for simulation of punishable acts and slander in judicial proceedings, she also said that she will request from the Public Ministry “an impediment to leaving the country for the relatives of the late Penagos; However, a few hours after the conference, it was learned that both David Penagos and his mother, Diana Cardona, returned to Mexico on a business trip.
Rodríguez assured that all the complaints filed against him are slanders that they have created to divert attention and minimize what is happening in the country with the price of medicines.
