Zamir Villaverde: Karelim López gave money to President Pedro Castillo in Palacio and Sarratea

On May 24 of this year, the prosecutor Karla Zecenarro drew up a record in which the statements of an effective collaborator are collected, who would be Zamir Villaverde, due to its relevance. The witness reports that karelim lopez paid cash to the head of state, both in government palace as in the house located in the sarratea street.

The amounts varied between S/ 100,000, S/ 50,000 and S/ 5,000, and came from the companies he represented. karelim lopez and that they used to win contracts with the state.

In the statement transcript appear Zamir Villaverde narrating the events in the second person, according to the minutes broadcast by the Willax TV program “Contracorriente”.

“I am aware that (former Secretary of the Presidency) Bruno Pacheco Castillo tells (Zamir) Villaverde that Karelim López gave presents to the President Pedro Castillo and (to the same) Bruno Pacheco, such as money, clothes, liquor, food, among other things. Bruno Pacheco referred (told) Villaverde that Karelim López brings President Pedro Castillo food, but I cannot specify how and what kind of food. Likewise, he gave the president sums of money directly, making him bring sums of money in cash, either to the Government Palace or to Sarratea’s house. Sums for the amounts of S/ 100,000, S/ 50,000 and S/ 5,000 on some of the dates on which he has visited and was able to talk with the president, at the Government Palace, on the dates that appear in the record of visits to the Palace, both on behalf of the President of the Republic and visits with other officials of the Office Presidential. As in the case of Bruno Pacheco or others, being that on some of these occasions she entered with Bruno Pacheco to meet with the president. I am aware that some of the times that Karelim López met with the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, and gave him sums of money, he did so in the presence of Bruno Pacheco, who later commented on these events to (Zamir) Villaverde García. ”.

It is not the transcript of any of the audios that Zamir Villaverde delivered to the prosecutor Karla Zecenarrobut from statements of an effective collaborator, who would be the businessman and friend of President Castillo.

In the second part of the minutes of May 24, which the prosecutor Karla Zecenarro reported to the Prosecutor of the Nation, Pablo Sánchezit is mentioned that the money provided by Karelim López to the head of state was allegedly linked to the contract in favor of Heaven Petroleum Operator (HPO)for the purchase of biodiesel B100 from Petroperú for US$ 74 million.

In this regard, the minutes state:

“I am aware that in one of the meetings that Bruno Pacheco and Zamir Villaverde had, between December 2021 and January 2022, in a restaurant that is in Rímac, whose name and address I do not remember, it was a chicken shop, in hours of the night… And Pacheco told Zamir Villaverde that Karelim López had given him the sum of 2 million soles in cash. (This) delivery that took place outside the Government Palace, after journalistic information about a Petroperú tender was released days before. In addition, Bruno Pacheco told him (that) that money was because Karelim López had closed a million dollar business and that it was the product of the payment of a biodiesel tender in Petroperú. Which was the bribe charged to the supplier of that tender (from October 28, 2021). Tender that was the subject of a journalistic complaint days before. And Bruno Pacheco said that this money was to be delivered to President Pedro Castillo Terrones. And Pacheco said that he gave it to President Pedro Castillo, without specifying the exact amount he gave the president or where he gave it. And Bruno Pacheco said that the president had given Karelim López all the facilities to collect from that bribe.”

It should be remembered that the contract in favor of HPO, dated October 28, occurred 10 days after the general manager of said company, Samir Abudayehheld a meeting with President Castillo at the Government Palace, on October 18, 2021.

Once Willax TV broadcast the act on the deliveries of money to President Castillo, Karelim López’s lawyer, César Nakazakiannounced that the effective collaborator would give more information about the case.

“We made the decision with Karelim López to testify about (the) criminal organization installed in MTC, without the shield of effective collaboration, without an identity key and without conditioning prosecutor Zecenarro, unlike Villaverde, to obtain benefits,” he wrote on his Twitter account. He did not deny what Zamir Villaverde said.
