Zamir Villaverdea businessman who is being investigated for various crimes, went this Tuesday morning to testify before the National Prosecutor’s Office as part of the process that was opened against the President of the Republic, peter castlefor alleged interference in the promotions of the Armed Forces.
Despite the fact that, previously, RPP had reported that the businessman had asked to reschedule this morning’s procedure, the effective collaborator in the Puente Tarata case appeared accompanied by his lawyer, Julio Rodríguez, and members of his personal security.
As reported by the Public Ministry last week, the Nation’s prosecutor, Liz Patricia Benavides, had arranged for the investigation against Pedro Castillo to be reopened for alleged influence peddling due to accusations of pressure in the promotion process of the Armed Forces in 2021 .

“It is arranged to initiate a preliminary investigation against the president and he is summoned to testify on August 4. It was also arranged to summon Karelim López (July 18), as well as Zamir Villaverde (July 19), Bruno Pacheco (August 3) and 6 officers of the Peruvian Army”, detailed the prosecution.
The investigation that began last week against Pedro Castillo is based on the accusations made by retired general commanders of the Armed Forces, who argued that both the president and Bruno Pacheco and former Defense Minister Walter Ayala sought to interfere in the promotions that were held in 2021.
For the prosecution, the president would be part of a mafia installed in the government to exert pressure and favor certain soldiers in promotions.
For this case, the Public Ministry investigates the alleged commission of the crime of influence peddling against Pedro Castillo.
