Foreign Minister Yván Gil announced that Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to pave the way for its integration into the Brics in connection with having carried out the Forum “Brics: Multipolar world under construction”, in which the ambassadors of Russia and Brazil were present, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov and Gilvânia Maria de Oliveira, respectively.
This was reported in his account on the Telegram social network, indicating that the initiative of the Bolivarian Government “seeks to foster a debate on the emergence of a new geopolitical dynamic that promotes the development of peoples through complementary cooperation and respect for sovereignty, without coercion or inequalities.”
He noted that the ambassadors “shared their perspective on the current international situation. In this context, two models confront each other: one that advocates equality, with the Brics leading the way, and another that perpetuates neocolonialism, benefiting only the imperialist elites.”
In this sense, he specified that “Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to pave the way for its integration into the BRICS, where we will make available our knowledge in the fight against unilateral coercive measures, as well as our abundant natural resources at the service of the people.”
The Brics is an organization that is made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The first summit was held in August 2023 with a view to establishing mechanisms for multilateral cooperation and confronting the economic measures emanating from developed countries, giving emerging economies an opportunity.
