“Today, 212 years later, Venezuela once again praises Bolívar’s fight for freedom, equality and national sovereignty and that of our peoples in South America. Values that inspire us to continue fighting against new imperialist threats. We are sons and daughters of Liberators!”, reviews a Telegram publication by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil.
The Venezuelan chancellor’s message was made after remembering that on October 14, 1823, Simón Bolívar received the title of Liberator of Venezuela, conferred by the Municipality of Caracas after his return to the city.
Likewise, Gil stated that this appointment was made in recognition of his victories against the Spanish troops in the Admirable Campaign, which liberated the peoples of the west of the country and allowed the creation of the Second Republic.
After the appointment of Liberator, the father of the country reacted with the following proclamation: “The title of Liberator is the most glorious and satisfactory title for me than the scepter of all the empires on earth.”
