Who is Yunes Márquez?
Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez comes from a family of Veracruz origin and that is dedicated to politics. His members militate in the PAN, in the PRI and now in Morena, so he has continued with “family tradition.”
He is currently 48 years old, two children and his wife is the municipal president of Veracruz, Patricia Lobeira; He is also the son of Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, who was governor of that entity, and brother of local deputy Fernando Yunes Márquez.
He has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, Florida. At 28 he began his political career as a local deputy at the Veracruz Congress. Then he was on two occasions mayor of Boca del Río, and in 2018 he tried to be governor for the PAN, but lost against the Morenista Cuitláhuac García.

Yunes scandals
The name of Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez began sounding in July last year after judge turned an arrest warrant against him, because he was indicated to lie to the authority, deliver false documentation and commit procedural fraud in 2021, when He sought to be mayor of Veracruz.
After this arrest warrant, the Attorney General of Veracruz requested the International Police Affairs Unit and Interpol Mexico to activate a migratory alert to detain the then PAN.
This led Yunes Márquez accusing the Government of Veracruz, who was headed by the Morenista Cuitláhuac García, of political persecution, and not letting his seat as a senator reach.
This conflict lasted two months, because in September 2024 another scandal arrived headed by Veracruz. A day before the reform of the Judicial Branch was carried out, the senator stopped answering the calls of the PAN coordinator, Guadalupe Murguía, so the speculation began to arise that he would give his vote to Morena to achieve That this modification will pass.
This caused all PAN members to demand from social networks to explain what their vote was going to be. However, he did not speak, but it was until the day of the vote that appeared in the company of the Morenista leader Adam Augusto López, and announced his support in favor of the reform that established the election of judges by direct vote.
“I will give my vote in favor of the opinion to create a new model of provision of justice,” said Yunes Márquez in the tribune of the former Senate headquarters, while Morenistas applauded him.
This generated that Citizens beaten Yunes Márquez to claim their vote in favor of the reform of the Judiciary. From social networks, videos circulated in which a woman is seen claiming: “He betrayed the people, betrayed the parties.”
