Yuli Gurriel is already the Cuban with the most RBIs in the World Series

MIAMI, United States. — Cuban Yuli Gurriel became this Wednesday the Cuban player with the most RBIs in the history of the World Series by completing his trailer number 12, surpassing the historic Tony Pérez.

The event occurred in the fifth inning, when the first baseman of the Houston Astros connected unstoppable to left field to bring the last score of his team.

In addition to pushing his 12th World Series career, Gurriel also became the oldest player to steal a base in those instances since American Paul O’Neill did it in 2001, according to information shared on social networks by the journalist and writer specialized in baseball Francys Romero.

In yesterday’s game, the man from Sancti Spiritus had two hits in four at-bats. They were his indisputable 25 and 26 in the World Series, the absolute leader among Cubans who have played the fall classic.

The Astros ended up beating the Philadelphia Phillies with a final score of five runs to none, in a clash in which the losers went hitless against the combined work of starter Christian Javier and relievers Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly.

In this way, the Astros tied the final confrontation two wins —guaranteeing the return of the match to Houston— and became the second team to give a combined “no hit no run” in the history of the World Series.

Tonight both teams will go for the tiebreaker. The Astros will rely on their ace Justin Verlander, who has yet to win a World Series game, while the locals announced fellow right-hander Noah Syndergaard.
